………..

Scaling=Removing debris and etc from tooth/gum interface.

Scaling is the most important procedure in the oral health care. During scaling bio film of microbes ( plaques) to hardened tartar ( aged layer of different substances) to not so pleasant stains are removed by magnetically vibrating hand held electronic machines (ultrasonic scalers ). During the procedure it is run gingerly from around the interface of gums and tooth and sometimes above tooth surface. This treatment advisable to everyone twice a year, done by the registered dentist, for protecting yourself from gum bleeding, foul smells from oral cavity and loosening of your supposed-to-be-ivory teeth.

Only white(tooth coloured) filling we do . Silver is obsolete now.

Filling is scraping/excavating your damaged part of tooth before it progresses towards the nerves/tissues centre (pulp) of the teeth to hide this pit hermetically  with biocompatible strong materials. It prevents further damaging of teeth or at least stops reaching to the nerves which if takes place needs to go for root canal treatment. Variety of filling materials are there ranging from companies to companies and softer(short lasting ) to sturdier (long lasting) which is again determined by the condition of your tooth’s cavity.

RCT=removing infected nerves, vessels and refilling with biocompatible plastic like materials.

Root canal Treatment is also commonly understood as cleaning of your all the nerves of your teeth and making it dead yet equally strong as it used to be.  But, as it is a hollow made after removing nerves , it can get chipped or horizontally split. To prevent that untoward result,  a certain reinforcing application called onlay or crown is required . Which helps to keep head of the tooth strong enough to deter grinding force from regular bites. During RCT, cleaning of whole inner part of teeth is done by pin sized equipment along with antiseptic liquids and plastic typed material (gutta percha ) is sealed in all the canals.

…………

To put crown, tooth is whittled down..

And, crown inserted into that created space to fit snugly.

Crown or commonly called as cap, for the tooth, are used to reinforce it for the biting/chewing/splitting forces. For that, particular tooth is whittled down, to prepare a sitting space for upcoming  crown, then measured it with impression material and sent to the lab which in their  lab then made replica put in a hearth to fabricate. Crown material also ranges from only stainless steel metal to Japanese gold to metal fused ceramic to full ceramic. Cost depends upon quality of the lab work to materials they are made up of.
